Founding story

Hey, I'm Oli and I officially launched Search Informer in April 2026.

I'm the proud father of two (a little girl and a big golden retriever called Mac), and a big fan of surfing in Cornwall, UK.

My wife and I with our little girl at Boardmasters in Newquay, Cornwall.

From as early as I can remember, I've had a fascination with three key things:

  • Business
  • Psychology
  • Technology

Where did those interests come from?

I'm not entirely sure.

Maybe from the fact that my mum worked in advertising and my dad is a freelance Production Sound Mixer in the film and television industry, both of which you'd think have some overlap.

Over the last decade, I've found that marketing (and specifically search engine optimisation and generative engine optimisation) is the perfect blend of all three.

An interest in business means I can speak the language of founders and those reporting to senior leadership teams, who need to hear how their marketing budgets are actually translating into new revenue, sales, and profit.

Curiosity surrounding all things psychology-related also comes in handy when you're thinking about who the right target audience is for a brand, what things they're searching for throughout the customer journey, and how to reach and get in front of them.

Finally, a fascination with cutting-edge tech means I've actually been able to learn the technical skills needed to properly optimise client websites and engineer effective search marketing strategies. This is also more important than ever in an industry being rapidly disrupted by the latest advancements in AI-technology.

Early years

From my early years at school, I've always learnt best by doing.

This is probably why, as a teenager, my twin brother and I would find ourselves spending weeks at a time launching new websites, online businesses and side projects.

Whether it was a website selling MySpace profile designs back in 2011 or launching an Amazon affiliate business in the sports industry (which was ultimately sold for a tidy profit several years back!), I was always trying to get something going.

The affiliate website I created a few years back and grew with SEO, before it was sold.

In doing so, I picked up a strong mix of online marketing skills which have proved invaluable throughout my career.

After school, I attended Bournemouth University to study and ultimately graduate with a degree in Public Relations.

My university course included a work placement year, which is where I first found my feet in developing and executing marketing strategies to drive growth for someone else's business.

Startup school

While at university, I secured a role as a Marketing Executive at the promotional products and branded merchandise company allbranded.

While working at allbranded, I was trusted with a PPC budget of ~£20,000 per month and asked to do what I could to drive as many qualified leads and sales with it as possible.

The startup environment ensured that I learnt, hands-on, how vital it is to get the most out of every pound and pence in a marketing budget to drive the best return-on-investment possible.

Over the course of my time there I took on the role of Marketing Manager for the UK website and generated upwards of £1 million in revenue from paid and organic search campaigns.

Agency life

After graduating, I was ready for the next challenge.

I was looking for a new role at a forward-thinking digital marketing agency and found one at Reboot Online, a search marketing agency who were (and continue to be) highly respected for their industry-leading experiments.

At Reboot, I was fortunate enough to learn from colleagues and leaders in everything from technical SEO and content marketing to digital PR and now AI engine optimisation (AEO)/generative engine optimisation (GEO).

Over the course of eight years at the agency, I was hands on in planning and executing SEO and GEO strategies for a wide range of businesses including household name brands like Uswitch, Numan, Hillarys, TUI, China Airlines, and others like them.

In my last role as Search Director at Reboot, I formed part of the senior leadership team and sat on the board. This meant that I also got the opportunity to learn how agencies can scale to deliver the most ambitious and wide ranging strategies without compromising on quality.

Search Informer

Fast-forward to April 2026 and yet again I was feeling ready for a new challenge.

I launched Search Informer to leverage my decade of experience in the search marketing space to help brands drive exponential growth in not just SEO/GEO visibility but also revenue and profit.

Our mission is to work with likeminded, ambitious founders and marketing teams to engineer and deliver best in class organic search campaigns that drive maximum growth across SEO and AI search platforms.
